Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
Me and the hubby decided that we would just get each cards this year, then at the end of the month we would try and have a day out together - with no children. Anyway, I'd made his card then last night I made hearts with a personal note on it for each of the men in the house. I then placed one of the bath melts in a tiny envelope, punched a hole through the heart and the envelope, threaded red wool through and then hung them on their bedroom doors waiting for morning. When hubby got in from work last night he informed me he'd not made/bought a card but would be spending the morning in the garage making me something. Now I know that these sorts of occasions just pop onto the calendar to surprise everyone, but aaaaaaarrrrgh. I get really upset when he doesn't make the effort - it's not like I ask for alot, I don't want roses or chocolates or champagne, just a hand-made card would be perfect. After nearly 20 years together you would think that he'd have learnt by now. I try not to let it bother me but I can't help it. I think I get so upset because my dad never made any effort with my Mum (for birthdays or christmas, let alone wedding anniversaries or Valentines Day) Anyway, sorry for ranting - after me being rather grumpy this morning he took the dog then disappeared into the garage. He came out an hour later with an apology and this........

.......... a beautiful wooden heart made by his own two hands. It's wonderful, so warm and smooth, perfect for stroking. Thank you so much - and sorry for being a grump.

P.S.

I realised after I wrote the post yesterday that I had the season table swap item next when I actually think it should be the Valentine's Day card :-). I've also got to make some more play-doh as half of what I made previously has been decorating my carpet and I promised some other kids that I would make some for them too. As I'm visiting the birthday girl in question on Saturday I think I best do that job tomorrow. I've got some beetroots ready (for dying the play-doh) as suggested by Claire so I'm really looking forward to seeing how that turns out.

Supplies and more handwarmers

Ds1 had asked for some crafty bits from Myriad so I happily obliged ;-). I also added a couple of extra things for us. I've got some felting wool so we can make pictures and/or balls. I also got some wooden dolls with bendy arms and legs which seem to have wandered off somewhere, some wooden balls for threading/doll making, some stockinette and some mohair dolls hair for making dolls with. I only ordered these on Tuesday - given the state of the transport system at the moment - I am extremely chuffed that they arrived today. The service is always fantastic at Myriad.

This evening I sat and finished the handwarmers I've been knitting and then I sat and wrapped some red wool around the wooden frame for the Valentine mobile. I tucked the ends under at the start then wrapped the wool over the top, then when I got to the last one I threaded it through a needle and slipped in under the wool I'd just wrapped. This way I can just unravel it after Valentines day and re-use the wool without having to cut it.

Something for Valentine's Day

I made a felt heart last night ready for hubby for Valentine's Day, but decided that I would make one for each of us, so this evening I've sat and made another big one and three smaller ones then fastened them onto an embroidery hoop to make a mobile. I adapted the idea from the lovely Lucie - hope you don't mind x.
