Catch up

Cor blimey - I've got buttons swimming before my eyes!! I've spent the last three evenings sorting out that bag of buttons and integrating it into the household collections. There were so many that the kids button shoebox is almost full, and I've re-arranged mine too. I was in the charity shops again yesterday looking for jars to put them in and found three - perfect - and they only cost me £1.30 too. I already had the 2 old yankee candle jars so now I've sorted mine out by colour.

I also finished the baby snuggly for Claire, but in my haste to get it in the post, I forgot to take a piccie :-(. Never mind. Same for the holly fairy too, which was for Joxy. My mind is working so fast these last few weeks that I seem to be getting ahead of myself, only to realise later on that something has been forgotten (sigh).

Other piccies are my new book, which was ordered at the same time as the others, but they were awaiting stock, and the summer Living crafts magazine. Haven't had a chance to look at these yet because of aforementioned buttons, but hopefully later. Lastly is more alpacca wool from a lovely GP mama. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Lastly, we spent a lovely hour today picking more elderflowers for more cordial as we seem to be drinking it at an alarming rate ;-).

Look what arrived today

Actually the first thing didn't arrive in the post but I made it the other night.....another gnome. I love how the wool made the stripe on the rim of the hat.

The 2 things to arrive in the post was my Living Craft magazine - fantastic, and my Mum's plaque, which is fantastic as well but it should have been sent direct to my Nan's house so she can arrange fitting it with the parish clerk. Oh well. Since it came here, I've taken a couple of rubbings and a photograph. Now I just need to get it to my Nan's house.

Treats and smiles

This was one of the bargains that we got in our local library yesterday for the princely sum of 20p. As I'm just learning to draw I thought it would be great.

Other treats are the Living Crafts (summer 08) magazine from one of the lovely mamas on the GP forum. Thank you so much W it's fantastic. Also in the piccie is some more Freedom Spirit wool off Ebay - bargain at £5.50 for the 2 - and 4 pairs of double point needles that I picked up in the charity shop yesterday (25p a set). Wonderful.

Today we made 'send-a-smile' postcards where you have blank postcards, draw a picture on them, then send them to whomever you chose with 'sending a smile' written on the back. Unfortunately, I was in such a rush to get them posted that I forgot to take a photograph of them.

Beeswax and soft toffee

I ordered some beeswax off ebay 2 days ago and it arrived this morning. It smells absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully I'll have a recipe for some olive oil and beeswax lipbalm from the GP forum, and I would like to make some walnut candles with the kids that we saw in the Living Crafts magazine.

Here's a photo of the soft toffee that we made earlier. It was really easy but it's not really a toffee texture - not sure we'll make this one again (although I might have a fight with the rest of the family about that).
