Still hectic

Heck...this rollercoaster of a week is still hectic!  I had a friend drop by on Friday with 3 bags of fabric - I was expecting carrier bags when she said bags, but look at the size of them!  They are still sat on the kitchen floor waiting to be looked through.

Yesterday was the Crafts Uncovered Event in Barton upon Humber.  It was a fabulous day (even though I left a lot of stock at home!) made even better as when I got home hubby made the tea :o).

Also waiting for me when I got home was a parcel containing 6 of the ribbons I ordered from the supplier.  I didn't even know they'd been dispatched so that was a lovely suprise.  I've been taking lots of photos this morning then I need to make more soap.  Updating the website will have to wait until later :o)

Fabulous few days

While doing my sorting out/tidying of the house I nipped some shoeboxes (for the shoebox appeal that have been stuck in the bottom of my wardrobe for years!!) to the lady in the village who runs the local shoebox group. While there we got chatting about knitting and she mentioned the knitter knatter group she goes to where they knit things for the shoeboxes...well, to cut a long story short, I went to the knitter knatter group (yes, there was more than 2) where I did some crocheting, plenty of chatting, had lunch bought for me, then went home 4 hours later....it was bliss. In fact so blissful that I couldn't be bothered to do much after that ;o).

So that was Wednesday. Yesterday we went to the library and charity shops where I found some books and the above glass bottle (2 in fact) which are now residing on my bathroom windowsill, and those gorgeous sheets. The plain yellow is actually a deeper colour than the photo shows. They are both brand new, although the flower one is the same as the vintage pink sheet I have...loads of fabric for £4.

And back to yesterday's post. JJ came home, happy as Larry with tales of the games him and his friend had played. Fantastic for a boy who has never really been away from us. :o)

Treats and orders

It's been a busy week this week so I've treat myself to a couple of books. The first is ideas for felted items that maybe shouldn't have been felted and the second is Kirsty's Homemade Home to go with the television series that she did. Both really good books.

While I was shopping for ribbons I emptied the reel that one was on. I asked what they did with them and was told that they throw them away and asked if I would like it....yes please says I, so they gave me a bagful of empty reels. Fantastic. It will hopefully mean my ribbon box is a bit tidier :o).

I also got some holly fabric for yule treats. Once out of Boyes I discovered a new fabric/wool/haberdashery shop!!!!!! Oh my...it was a good job I had JJ with me or I would have spent a fortune as we just don't have a decent fabric shop round here. The choice was amazing - the vehicle fabric came from there (JJ's choice).

I know I've had a lot to show you today (although this will be the first post you read) but I just wanted to show you the bargain double sheet I got in the charity shop last week - it's just gorgeous and it only cost a pound!! Wonderful fabric.

This is the heavy canvas and the yellow gingham that I will be making the campervan hammock with.

And some more cocoa butter as I used the last lot with the birthday bath melts (see next posts).

My Nan

Sunday we went to visit my wonderful Nan (my Mum's Mum) where she cooked us lunch, we dug up a tonne of strawberry plants and the raspberry canes that she doesn't want and came home with 2 large bag fulls of crafty things that she had sorted out for me. My Nan is just an amazing lady - at 83 she still does loads of stuff; cooks fantastic 'proper' food; embroiders the most amazing cushions/pictures/boxes plus loads of other pieces; is a do-er; stayed married to a man who was a bully for 60 years, but still misses him now he's gone. She's a true inspiration to me. Right - some of the stuff she gave me:-

Orders

I still haven't had chance to do my soap yet, but I did find a pair of lovely pillow cases in the charity shop yesterday for 10p each. Bargain fabric.

My sister came for the day on Sunday and asked me to make her these - transportable naughty steps! Not quite sure whether I agree with them but anyway.

And the fabric I bought off ebay finally arrived yesterday. This is for a bag order and the little girl in question likes ballet/dancing, so hopefully this will be ok. I set to last night on the bag and nearly got it finished - so that's where I'm going right now ;-).

Must stop going in charity shops!!

Now I distinctly remember saying I didn't need any more fabric - I should just use up what I have! But how can anyone resist such bargains when they come up like that?! Both the quilt covers are reversible so I actually get 4 different fabrics, not just 2. Does that make it justifiable? The red fabric I got off ebay with my earnings as I couldn't find any red/white flowered fabric in the charity shops (my reason for being in them) to finish a red/white bag that has been sat waiting for a while. Anyway, off to finish said bag.

Fabric, bags 'n pads

Well here's the stash of fabric and bits that hubby found in the loft. Included are poppers, binding, stuffing, a cross-stitch that I started years ago and got bored with, a bag full of cotton strips that were leftover from making Aaron a mummy costume with for halloween when he was 7, and a whole load of fabric. All now sorted and amalgamated into the rest of my stuff (which seems to be taking over the living room, bedroom and the kitchen!).

Anyway...onto the reason for my ever-growing stash of crafty items. I'm sure the lovely mama who acquired this order for me won't mind me showing you them before they are despatched. I loved the flower when I did it, and then when I made the owl I loved that even more! They will be sent off tomorrow.

Lastly, the first two of the san pro pockets made for the GP orders. I've made some more templates as well, as I've never made postpartum ones before. Only 23 more to go!

Right, off to make a birthday card now for a birthday tomorrow.

Purchases

There have been a few crafty purchases lately - buttons (of course), blank badges and non-sew press studs to try, fishing wire (for the button door curtain I have in mind) and some fabric (mmm). A couple of the pieces I forgot to photograph before I used them but here are the others. I just love the stripes up there - 2 double cotton sheets for £3.00! And the blue and white fairy fabric. I'm not really sure about about the purple one now I've got it...the faces look a little too witch-like to be fairies. Anyway, I'm getting swamped with orders now so it's just a quickie for today.
