Cakes and Ribbon

Well hello if your still here.  I meant to start posting a bit more regularly but life is still hectic.  Anyway, I managed to get the fabric (see last post) all sorted out, and even went through my existing stash.  I took the pieces I wouldn't use to the charity shop so someone else could have some use out of them...very organised of me I know (not really as it took me a week to remove them from the kitchen floor ;o) ).  I also attended a meeting of The Country Crafts Association where they wanted to review my work so they could see whether or not they would accept me into their group.

I also received more ribbon from one of my suppliers...I was going to wait for the rest to arrive before I added it to the website but I'm very impatient so it's on there now.  Once the buttons have arrived (and I'm also going to stock pure wool felt!!)  I will be holding a celebration give-away so watch this space!

Today I managed to make some cakes (lemon and poppy seeds)...first time in months.  Now I'm going to take hubby some lunch as he's working at his lock-up then I'm hoping to do some sewing this afternoon.

Still hectic

Heck...this rollercoaster of a week is still hectic!  I had a friend drop by on Friday with 3 bags of fabric - I was expecting carrier bags when she said bags, but look at the size of them!  They are still sat on the kitchen floor waiting to be looked through.

Yesterday was the Crafts Uncovered Event in Barton upon Humber.  It was a fabulous day (even though I left a lot of stock at home!) made even better as when I got home hubby made the tea :o).

Also waiting for me when I got home was a parcel containing 6 of the ribbons I ordered from the supplier.  I didn't even know they'd been dispatched so that was a lovely suprise.  I've been taking lots of photos this morning then I need to make more soap.  Updating the website will have to wait until later :o)

Treats and orders

It's been a busy week this week so I've treat myself to a couple of books. The first is ideas for felted items that maybe shouldn't have been felted and the second is Kirsty's Homemade Home to go with the television series that she did. Both really good books.

-

I had an order for 12 purple felt hearts so.....

Picking the ribbons.

Cutting everything out ready.

2 done.

All 12 done and nearly packaged ready for the post office.

While I was shopping for ribbons I emptied the reel that one was on. I asked what they did with them and was told that they throw them away and asked if I would like it....yes please says I, so they gave me a bagful of empty reels. Fantastic. It will hopefully mean my ribbon box is a bit tidier :o).

I also got some holly fabric for yule treats. Once out of Boyes I discovered a new fabric/wool/haberdashery shop!!!!!! Oh my...it was a good job I had JJ with me or I would have spent a fortune as we just don't have a decent fabric shop round here. The choice was amazing - the vehicle fabric came from there (JJ's choice).

Now, I'm supposed to be passing on a blog award to 10 bloggers that I love but I want to give it to all blogs that I read. I know thats a bit of a cheat but the 50 blogs that I 'follow' are all fabulous for various reasons - so, if I follow your blog have this award too, and thank you for making me happy with your knowledge, heartwarming stories, crafts, recipes, links, warmth, friendship, love.

Bags and supplies

This is the dinky bag I made to go with my niece's felt food (I shall endeavour to get some in the shop before the end of the month).

My sister was having a sort out of her rubber stamps so I came home with these for the bargain price of £5.00.

Supplies for recent orders (except the ribbon which just looked gorgeous and cost less than £2.50 for over 15m of ribbon).

I must admit to feeling quite overwhelmed on Tuesday when I got asked to make 7 Mac Notebook bags for a 'proper' company. Ok now though, and thank you very much Claire for having the faith in me xxx

Sorting

Well, I've got most of the wool sorted out but there is still a small pile on my living room floor that needs untangling or pulling down and winding into balls. I also had to find a new box for my ribbon stash as I couldn't get the lid on the other one as there was too much in it. So this evening has been spent sorting through all the ribbons and making them look tidy (for 5 mins at least) and looking at the pile of wool wishing it would untangle itself.

Good Friends

Made the birthday card for my very good friend's birthday yesterday. She came today for lunch and it was lovely.
While sitting on my bum yesterday I also managed to sort through some more magazines my MIL had fetched for me.. Not as much inspiration in these as there was in the others that she brought. Good for recycling now.
And in the post today was a lovely parcel from another very good friend. Although we have never phsically met she knows me very well - buttons and ribbon for my hoarding addiction!
Thank you Claire - I'll get on with another 'designed by shell' item.
I've also started on another bag. I'll hopefully post more on that later.....

Smiles through the post

The GP forum LETS scheme offers plenty of guilt free spending as well as a chance to earn credits. Here's one of my 'purchases' from the lovely Sarah - some chinese brocade fabric.

These other items were included in the parcel - thank you so much, your too kind.

Here's another one of my 'purchases' (how nice that they all arrive on the same day) - a gorgeous daffodil child made from felt. She is sooo beautiful - thank you SF.

And lastly, I needed some more brooch pins so I ordered some from paper-and-string again - the service there is fantastic. Added a couple more items to make the parcel worthwhile you understand.

Stockings and Wreaths

This is the stocking I made for my ds3 last year. My mum had already cut it out...I added the bits on the front and then stitched it all together.

This is the one I have nearly finished for my new nephew (born yesterday). Just need to make the fabric tag that goes on the top.

I made this wreath 3 years ago. It is a florists ring which is wrapped in green ribbon. I then made loads of bows out of christmassy ribbon and pinned then on the ring with ball headed pins (is that the right name for them?????). I then added some small green and red bells. Voila!
