Free (pt 2)

Claire gave me the idea of collecting the wheat/barley from the harvested fields - so here's the chickens enjoying a free snack. While we're on the subject of the chickens I thought I'd show you where they lay..........

.....nothing in here!

Shall I show you where they actually lay (and I think I'd be more inclined to lay here too)......

......take a peek. It's an absolute bugger to reach under here but the smell from the honeysuckle makes up for it ;o).

Free - from my Dad's garden yesterday. I had run out, and my crop this year is rubbish, so this is perfect.

Then on the way home, while we were looking at the fishes and dragonflies in a large ditch we spotted these.....

.....cherries!! The trees have been covered this year but I've never had a suitable recepticle to carry them home in before. I had to wrap the lavender in my cardigan and then used my bag to bring these home. They taste delicious - not sour at all.

Thank you for all the lovely comments over the last few posts - it's lovely to get some feedback. Scented Sweetpeas - if only I'd read your comment a few hours earlier - I might have had those peaceful feelings all day long then ;o).

Rosemary

The rosemary I harvested yesterday filled my large basket and made the house smell gorgeous. I attempted to make a wreath as you would with willow, but it was too thick at one end and then too thin at the other and wouldn't stay woven together. I have some metal rings awaiting use as another idea, so I borrowed one of those. I had to tie the thick end on then weave it round the ring, and so on, then I added a length of twine so I could hang it in the kitchen.
I then filled a jar with rosemary, topped it up with olive oil and then stood it on my window sill so it can infuse it's gorgeous aroma. I'll either use this for cooking or I shall make so bath salts with it - can't decide yet.
The rest has been tide into 7 bundles and hung in the boiler cupboard to dry. I may use them for scent pillows or bath satchets or....any ideas greatly appreciated ;-).
PS. The small jar sat on the top of the rosemary jar has lavender and olive oil in it - I had a quick smell yesterday and it smells lovely.

Don't forget to leave a comment here for a chance in the draw.

Daytime crafting :-)

After doing a little bit of housework this morning I sat for 45 mins and made 4 cards with the lavender I dried the other day. I lined them with lavender drawer liners so they smell lovely and have pictures of lavender inside as well. One of these is for an August birthday.

While sat with JJ this afternoon I made a pen pot for our computer table, then after tea I sat and made these bean bags with tails.

There are actually 5 of these but one 'accidentally' landed in the potty! Now, as they are filled with green lentils I'm not sure whether it will survive the rinse under the tap :-/.

Mmmmmmm

After going to an art gallery this morning we nipped into the shopping area. A wool shop was calling to me so I had to go in - it was this wool below you see, singing it's 'come and stroke me' song. Well, who could resist?! Gorgeous D K by Twilleys of Stamford - 75% bamboo 25% nylon. Feels gorgeously soft.

When I got home there was a parcel of dried lavendar waiting for me. I'm going to make some lavender and hops cushions. I already have hops which I foraged and dried last year, but my own lavender bushes were not planted until last autumn so I don't have any of my own for any projects.
